Lap 1 completed!

Picture #1
365 days later... Greg has finished his first trip around the sun! It has flown by for Mom & Dad, who can hardly believe it was only a year ago that he made his debut. That tiny infant used to be swallowed up by his carseat- now his feet stick out. From being careful to put Greg to sleep on his back swaddled up tight, all the way to non-stop crawling and cruising [and usually towards the stairs...].

We owe many thank-yous to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends for helping us make it through a very educational, busy, tiring, amazing, funny, scary, great, nervous, joyful year.

Looking forward to a big 'official' celebration this weekend!

Welcome Gregory Robert!

Cassie and Geoff are proud [and exhausted] to present: Mr. Gregory Robert Matteson!

Born on October 21st, 2014 at 11:49am, he weighed in at 9 pounds 5 ounces and 21.5" long. He also arrived with a handsome head of dark hair!
I was told there would be food...?

His interests include feeding, pooping, and napping- sometimes all at once. And he loves to suck on his fists for comfort.

All four grandparents were in town to meet Greg- and Uncle Tony and Auntie Katie also made it to the hospital. And cousin Jamie made a surprise visit as well! A good snuggler, he loves to be held close and warm.

After a couple nights in the hospital, we arrived home last night [October 23rd] and are already blown away that he's been around 3 days! Cassie and Geoff are also learning how to squeeze in short naps while they can, but it's already more than worth the sleeplessness! We love you, Gregory!

Click here for a brief slideshow from the hospital photographer.

Already making tracks.

First feeding- hi Mom!

Newest addition to the Matteson and Meyer families!

Hello Uncle Tony!

Thinking man.

The camera loves me.

Auntie Katie swings by!

Homeward bound!
Zzz...

It's a Boy

Well, technically it's been a boy for just over 21 weeks now, but here's [insert name here]'s portrait via today's fancy 3D-simulating ultrasound technology. Vegetable/fruit size comparison this week: carrot.

For those keeping score at home, this will be Grandma & Grandpa Meyer's fourth grandson [and they got their first granddaughter recently- complete set!].

Grandma & Grandpa Matteson will have a grandson to lead things off.

Just to keep things interesting, we're working on closing on a house out in lovely Wheaton, Illinois... but will leave the details at that for now since we don't want to jinx the process.

You could say it's been a busy week 'round these parts.

We're Expecting!

The week-long social media blackout has finally been lifted! After keeping the announcement quiet so we could get down to Cincy and tell Cassie's family in person, we're happy to share it with the 'wider world'. I guess you could say Cassie herself is headed for a 'wider world'. Geoff just has to sit back, relax, and make jokes like that for the next 6 months.

Ok, ok, Geoff will be extra supportive [and probably extra anxious] in the coming months! He has already made trips to the grocery for some abnormal foodstuffs.

Now for some [surprisingly, already] FAQs:

Current artist's rendering of baby
When are you due?
Tentatively late October, 2014 [12 weeks along currently, or lime-sized if you're more familiar with fetal-fruit comparisons].

How is Cassie doing?
Other than a little nausea and sinus congestion, seems to be relatively normal so far. She does seem to be napping a lot, but then again she's always been a big proponent of naps.

Are you going to find out the sex of the baby?
Yes.

Are you going to tell us the sex of the baby?
Only if you behave yourselves.

Are you going to tell us your names for the baby?
Probably not, would like to keep you guessing at least a little bit.

Anything we can do for you?
Prayers, anecdotes, and well-wishes are all accepted.

Looking forward to our future adventures- we'll keep you posted!

One Year Later...

Next stop: Italia!
Hard to believe that it has been a year since our wedding in Cincinnati! We broke out the Waterford flutes and champagne [after celebrating Mother's Day, of course!] and got to reflect a little bit while writing in our anniversary journal... so far so good!

We're thankful for all of our family and friends who supported us on our 'Big Day' and throughout the year since. We had a busy year with few 'down' weekends, but that happens when you're blessed with amazing people in your life.

We both turned thirty this year as well, and we know that we've still only just begun our journey together. We can't wait to see what this next year will bring us [at the moment, we're packing for our vacation in Rome!]. We'll try and keep you updated, but life's starting to move pretty fast! Thanks for the visit, and have a great summer!

Love- Cassie & Geoff

With 700+ photos uploaded and edited, you're sure to find a few keepers! Many thanks to Bari and his wife, Louann for their time and suggestions! We had a lot of fun shooting our Engagement Photos in Chicago last September, and that was only a preview for the Big Party last month! Bari and Louann even had their daughter Madeline out helping us at the Athenaeum.

Enjoy the photos!
